Default Question for Stock air intake

Wow, I was looking at k&N fipk, and thought that there are not many differences compare to stock intake.

so, i test drive my car without airbox lid.

I really liked the sound. Good growling once the motor hits Vtec.

I did not feel the hesitation from first accelation.

Just Awesome!!!

Here comes my questions.

1. Is it okay to drive without lid?

2. If I take out the lid and change the filter to K&N, Do I have to reset the ECU?

3. I want to insulate the air box. When I do it, what kind of tape or stuff like that do i have to use to hold the insulator on the box?

Thank you very much.

I hope there is nothing wrong with doing this cuz I really liked the sound!

I dont know about HP gain though

1. no cover = hp loss

It sounds cool, not only at vtec but under load at lower rpms but it's just sucking hot air. Honda engineers know what they are doing.

when the hood is closed, the k&n filter is sealed between the hood and the k&n chamber. With your lid off, there is no seal and will heat soak more than it would if the top was on.

Is HP loss significant???

Is there anyway I can Keep this sound? Cuz I really like the sound!!

Does K&N make similar sound?

I am kind of thinking $300 for intake just do not worth.

Any way to solve the heat soak without lid?

If Stock loss HP, then howcome K&N FIPK, which also doesnt have lid, does not loss HP?

aren't thoes same type or Intake?

Oh.. Sorry HiPER.

I was misunderstanting your post.

I think the heat is coming from engine.

So, If i can cover the back of airbox, would it be okay?

I heard that hp loss is not that significant, about 2~3 horses?

If you like the sound, why not leave the lid off?
