Thumbs up Questions before I buy a s2k

Hey there. I'm currently in the process of getting a S but I'm hesitant in making the purchase. Honestly, I have little experience with driving manual and know very little about the S mechanically.

Is there a specialist I can take the S to get checked out? I'm skeptical about the clutch and there might be something wrong with the wheel bearings because I heard some clicking sounds when I was test driving it. If possible, is anyone knowledgeable about the S willing to go inspect the car with me? I'd appreciate it a lot and I'm willing to compensate you for it. I'm located in San Gabriel Valley, 626 area.

Thanks in advance!

First update your user info

Second post in your local/regional forum, for some hands on help.

Third how old are you? The S is a fairly easy car to drive, but there's no way in hell I'd suggest someone whos not comfortable with manuals to drive mine, even with VSA on. Especially the AP1; it's not really a car designed with learning on. Not that you can't, but they can get quite twitchy.

I'm 21 and I actually did read that post.

I'm asking the seller to go get a compression test with me today. I just want to be confident about my purchase and get a second opinion. I'll repost this in the local forum though.

Thanks for the advice; but honestly, I've had my eye on the S for a while now. I don't think I can settle for anything less because I know I'll regret it. I can drive stick, I'm just not really good at it. I'm not going to be stupid about it either, I'll slowly learn the car. Thanks guys.

You'll get the hang of the manual and will be spoiled with how well the gearbox on the S was made.

Post in your local forum to get another S owner to check it out with you.

Good luck!!

my s is the first manual ive had and its a piece of cake. but mine is a ap2 ive been told the ap1 is a little harder to learn on. just ask him to let you drive it you should be able to tell if you can learn it after 5 min of driving.

good luck with your purchase. if you intend on learning, have the current owner help you, a couple hours behind the wheel and trust me youll get a good hang of it. i would try to set up 2 or 3 days with over an hour each. for whatever reason i think it makes sense to take learn over 2-3 days so when youre not driving you can think about what you need to learn and improve on. good luck!
