Default quick help PLEASE - how to get Voodoo knob off to peform TSB's

Dealer just called, can't get my voodoo knob off. I've got it in for the rattle TSB and they claim they've been trying for 1/2 hour to get the knob off. I've got thread lock on there ONLY. To the point the technition has been using some rubber around the knob to keep from scratching it but now wants permission to go metal on metal to get it off.

Any ideas??

I would think he should be able to cover the knob with a rag and apply a good grip tool over that. That thread-lock must be good stuff.

because the voodoo knob doesn't have a lock nut on it and otherwise it spun all over the place damn near constantly.

If I had it to do over again I'd use thread lock again, but not slather it all over the threads. Just use a little bit on the bottom maybe rather than all over so it would be easier to break the seal. Another option, however, the knob won't sit quite as low then would be to use the existing lock nut on the bottom yet. I don't know how well that would work though.

You only need to use thread lock if your knob has the shift pattern on the top. This is done to center the Shift pattern. Otherwise you just tighten it good, and it will never move.

Did you use red or blue loctite? Blue is recommended for shifters with a shift pattern because it breaks loose easier than the red.
