You planning to head up?
I plan on making a 4 day weekend out of it. Will take all day Friday to drive the 350 miles up (taking nothing but secondary roads) and then doing the same on the way down on Monday.
I am going to post in the meets and events forum the idea of a meet/group drive for the trip. If anyone is interested look there.
All my life iv'e wanted to attend a F1 race. It's finally gonna happen
PS. most good seats are sold out. I will be going for Grandstands #33.

When we went up in 1992, our travel agent got us a room at La Tour Centre Ville (http://www.bestlodging.com/sites/4135/index.shtml). This is an extended stay kind of place but they will rent rooms by the night and seems to be overlooked by the F1 crowd. It's only about 1 block to the subway so it's an easy ride to the track. They even have a private parking lot.
My recommendation though would be to stay in Quebec City and drive down and catch the subway into town. That way you'd have the best of both worlds. The atmosphere and friendliness of Quebec City (isn't that a clever way to say that Montreal isn't the friendliest place?) and the race in Montreal. There are 2 motorways (one on each side of the St. Laurence) and numerous back roads between the ciies. It's only about 150 miles between them.
The Villenueve hometown of Berthierville with museum is just outside Montreal. Don't miss the video of Gilles' wreck in the basement.
