Default quick tire question...wanna order today.

our tire guy reccommended the michelin pilot XGT V4...i searched in this forum and found 1 post - that said honda puts those on CIVICS and GSR's!

i'm thinking i should get the S-O2 or the honda version of the s02.

whadda you think? would you get the v4 over the s02

Hell no...don't get michlins...

For maximum dry weather performance in a street tire for the S2000 with stock wheels...get the Honda spec S02's.

Stick with the honda oem S-02's. Order them from tirerack.com, but go to the s2ki tire and wheel forum and use the link in there to order yoru tires from tirerack.com so that s2ki gets sponsorship.

I ordered S-03's from tirerack.com last week because the rainy season is about to start here, and while the S-02's are good for wet when new, after a few K miles I don't feel safe in them in wet weather.

whats your tire guy been smokin??? maybe thats what he stocks typically???
no michelins for my S car. get the stock S02's... or if you dont push the car and really need wet traction, get the S03's or even Dunlop SP9000's. Still costly tires, but have decent dry traction as well as very good wet traction.

I ordered my last set from Tirerack...great response time and oem S02's are in stock! link through the tire rack link so S2KI gets credited .

Good luck!

When my 2001 came in last December, I was worried about cold, wet, snowy conditions. I talked to a guy at Discount Tire Warehouse, and he highly recommended the XGT "Z"4.
It is a high performance all season tire. I don't push my cars to their limits, so having the ultimate track tire was not a concern of mine.
I bought the Z4's and so far, I really like them. They handle great, but I can't compare them to anything else, because I dumped my 'take offs' at 46 miles. I don't hesitate to drive my car in the dead of winter, or as hard as I can up and over Mt Rose highway year round.
I see the guys meely mouthing the michelin's, but I find that they are a very nice tire. I can't comment on the V4's.

I've had the Pilot Sports (rears) for about 8k miles, and I'm very pleased; however, I neither track nor autocross my car. The Michelins are great in the wet, and I can find no fault in their dry weather handling, either.

Yesterday I put two Michelins Pilot XGT Z4 on the rear. The S02's were shot at 13,000 miles. Most of my driving is hwy and I didn't feel safe on the S02's on the hwy especially in the rain. There were several times that I felt like I was going to loose the back end when the road was wet, especially at speeds over 55 mph on the worn S02's. Since I do not "track" the car, I wanted a tire that would last longer AND have better wet weather traction. The Michelins will provide both of these. Look at what you need out of a tire, how often you drive the S and what conditions the road is (wet or dry)- then make your selection. Good luck!!!!

honda designed s02s are most likely the stickiest everyday driving tire for this car....snow excluded of course
