R&T Reports S2000 0-60 as 4.9!
I agree with NSXER.
Owning both S2000 and NSX, I would say NSX is a better performance car. Although mine is a '91 which is slower than the newer '97+ NSX, it can still outperform the S2000 in most catagory. Putting on aftermarket header and exhaust on a early NSX, it'll become a much faster car as the design of the header & exhaust on early NSX are very restrictive. On the other hand, putting on new header & exhaust on a S2000, the performance gain is very minimal.
For those of you interested in NSX, go check out http://www.nsxprime.com which is one of the most imformative forums around. There're few stock early NSX can do 13.0 - 13.5 1/4 mile which is truely impressive. However, for stock v.s stock and depends on which track, I would say the early NSX and S2000 are actually quite close in terms of performance, but when comparing to the newer NSX, S2000 is no competition.

David M- you can order a copy online here:
http://7vcd.homestead.com/jul_99.html
It's July 1999 issue
Let us know if you get it,
Make sure you have a VCD player though, on the cover it says that you can run it on your computer but i havn't been able too. The video is in japenese with english subtitles any issue after 2000 wont have english subtitles. To me it doesn't matter though as it just amazing to watch the cars scream around the track redlining every gear change!
I'm just saying that the NSX isn't 180,000AU worth compared to the S2000, also the medel in the video was an '89 model so i have a feelling it was trashed, the s2000 shouldn't have to compete with the NSX anyway as they are designed for completely different sets of people.

Greetings! I'm new to the board.
My S2K is only three months old and I'm still getting used to it but there is simply no way it can pull with my 96 NSX. Maybe I have yet to learn how to launch it but there is too much difference to make up.
Agreement with NSXER and NA-1. As NSXER said, to suggest otherwise strains ones intelligence. The S2K is a lovely little machine but Honda ain't about to let it outperform its flagship. The NSX is a superior performance machine in every way - and it should be.
Any S2K outperforming the NSX is way beyond standard specs.

A couple of points here guys.
DavidM, best performance times I have seen for the S2k are 5.3 0-60 and 14.0 1/4 mile in R&T 9.99.
In the 9.00 comparo with Boxster S, Z3M and Audi TT convertible the numbers for the Boxster S were 5.6/14.0 whilst the S2k was 5.5/14.1.
NSXer and NA-1 I agree with you. I have spent time on track with S2ks, NSX and Integra Type Rs(Calder) and can attest to the fact that the NSX is to the S2k as the S2k is to the Type R. Down Calder straight the S2k would just hit 200(km/h), the NSX around 215 and the Type R around 190 so there you have it. N.B. we could all have gone a little faster but there is a right hander we wanted to get around
.
Mugen, you comment that the NSX in the video was an '89 model - I'm a little surprised as the NSX was first released in November 1990 as a '91 model.

2kturkey, what's that 9.99 next to the 14.0 time in your post above?
Also, I did some reseach on what the S2000 does on the 'local' tracks and this is what I found out about Calder :
-------------------------------------
best time 1:10:36, top speed 205kph
-------------------------------------
I gather you were reaching 200km/h but what about the lap times, how did you fare?
ps. 5.3 0-60mp/h time still should translate to about 5.9 for the 0-100km/h time here. I'm lining up my fathers R8 early next week (got a few test excercises already planed) so I'll post my finding here.

There's never going to be an end to this one! It's all relative to the driver, track conditions, timing equipment, blah, blah, blah! Sev has posted the best and most consistant times based on the average driver. Anything is possible. Are we going to be able to prove it? Doubt it!
I remember in 1978 when the CBX was running high 11 second quarters and nobody said that it could do the 10's. Well damn if I didn't have to prove that wrong. 10.988 at Kilcare Dragway in Ohio. Great conditions for horsepower! So it all relative!
Go back and look at the old posts on this one. We didn't prove anything there eather. Doesn't really matter cause the bottom line is who reaches the line first! Right!
Cheers!
