To race or not to race?
That is the question! If you are challenged at a stop light, how do you respond? Cruising down the freeway at 65 and someone pulls next to you and bumps the throttle a few times. On a mountain twisty and someone's on your bumper. Or, would you rather meet them on a deserted piece of road and see who can get there first?
Since May I've been tempted many times but I've responded twice. Once to a Harley and once to a BMW. With the Harley it was a tie and with the BMW it was an easy win. The Harley was from a stand still and it took a second to catch him. The BMW from a roll, I was in VTEC range and he was wound too high - I took advantage! In both cases I hardly exceeded the speed limit, but I'm sure a cop would have enjoyed the scene and rewarded me with a ticket!
Most situations seem too dangerous to race on the street. That's why I've tested my S against another vehicle so few times. Most of my friends aren't interested in racing, they just admire the car. I like theirs also: Camaro, Corvette, Jag. I'd probably loose to 2 of the three.

It all depends. most of the time I do not like to race, for whatever the reason (traffic, cops everywhere, just on the way home) I did not buy my car for someone else to race with. I do race around with my friends. I trust them not to do stupid things.
The temptation to rise to he bait when challenged is great: however, on more than one occasion I've been on the freeway when someone flew by going 20+ mph faster. A few minutes later I see the same racer boy pulled over by Johnny Law, getting a ticket. Then I thank my lucky stars I didn't join the party.
Interestingly enough, I don't really get challenged a lot. Maybe I look too old or something. I've pretty much resisted the urge to street race also. Guess you get wiser with age.
There was one time were an old domestic muscle car was next to me peeling out. He almost went sideways into my S2K. He was peeling out because the guys next to him wanted to race. I wasn't going to get near that car. He probably would've come right into me.

The XKR owner would probably be the best driver, the Camaro owner next (a policeman) and the Corvette owner is a woman. Her husband just bought her the car for quitting smoking. I don't even smoke and I'd have started and stopped for that deal
None of them would let me win
