Sci:

I would go for it.

From the way you present your case in your post, you seem extraordinarily rational and straightforward.

I would present your case just as you did to us, and see what it gets you.

I did it once, and the judge cut the fine by 75%. ( I was guilty, but the situation poorly marked )

Just cross your fingers for a judge as rational as you.

Good luck.

Good luck.....when it's your word against an officer's....they will almost always win. My suggestion is to give the judge your side of the story(including how much traffic) & hope for the best. Maybe the judge will reduce it to the 72mph....which is better than 103!

That's total BS. I sympathize with your situation, and all I can say is "Good Luck" fighting the Good Fight. I wish this sort of behavior, suspected or actual, would finally die off in America. I think we have bigger fish to fry...

It's about time that a "young black bald male, wearing sunglasses and driving an expensive car" gets what he deserves for always stealing away my girlfriends. How is a hairy white guy supposed to compete with that?

Seriously, Sorry to hear about it, I hope you take it all the way and kick ass and take names.

agreed on fighting it. get a lawyer for a hundred bucks and see what they can do or suggest. thing is, the judge will still say you were speeding, even if it was 72mph - thus to them a fine is a fine. but that is a bit extreme.

Subpoena his notebook pages about the stop. It may give you something to use. For instance, if he thinks he tracked you on radar, there is a certain method he must follow to insure that he was clocking you and not someone on the other side of 285 coming at him. You can also Subpoena the calibration information on the radar gun. If it has been too long, it could have clocked you wrong.

I've driven many times on Atlanta and I don't think there is anyway to do 103 during the daylight hours.

my only advice would be to get a lawyer.
your word against his and the judge is going with the cop unless you have legal representation unfortunately

Ouch, Cops like that give the rest of the good cops a bad name. I've got a black friend who had the same situation, driving his bwm 328i with top down and all of sudden a cop pulls him over. Starts asking him is this your car etc...My friend says yes parents bought it for him. Cop asked for insurance, registration, and license. Everything checked out perfectly. Gave him a ticket just for loud music. Friend went home told his parents, got themselves 2 damn good lawyers took the cop to court for racial profiling and won. Althought all the money went to the lawyers, it was for principles sort of speak. Sad thing is this cop is still a cop and i bet still doing same thing.

He probably had the radar display set on kph instead of mph.
