Default Radar Detector

Hi all!

I was wondering if you know if a radar detector that works in Asia, specifically Hong Kong.

I know the VALENTINE-1 is suppose to be one of the best one out there, but I could not find any literature as to whether it would work anywhere OUTSIDE the USA.

The only thing I could find out about HK speed traps and stuff is that they use "Laser LT1 20/20 Marksman". Couldn't find out about radar, and the police aren't forthcoming with the information at all (and I don't want to poke and prod too much or it becomes too obvious... if you know what I mean).

So if anyone knows anything about dectors used in Asia, please enlighten :-)

(btw. this isn't so I can speed... in HK there isn't anywhere to speed anyway, but the police are really "dirty" here... they set traps at the bottom of a downhill and set it like 40km/h after the top is 80km/h and stuff like that).

Thanks in advance!

Good news! Check out this link. You should be able to re-program the Valentine for use outside the US. https://store.valentine1.com/specs/

nvr2fast:
I'd not ask people here. Most are American, and most Americans couldn't point out HK on a map much less tell you what type of radar is used there. I'd find some locals to ask.

my escort lidar shifter has saved me a bunch of times...one officer this week hit me three times...twice in front and once in back and couldn't get a reading...so if they're set up right...kept level...they work just fine

FYI I have driven in a car with one and on many occasions it has saved me alot of $$$$$

1. I was playing with another car, we came around the corner 10kph more than the speed llimit. Warning a jammer went off. I quickly slowed down and trned off the jamming feature. The fellow next to me saw me slowing down and slowed down. Both of us drove pass donation spot free I was very surprise that he did not get caught

2. I was behind 2 cars and the laser warning + jamming went off about 1 km away from the spot. I quickly slowed down and turned off the jamming feature

If you still keen on how this work....look up escort laser on the webb
Cheers

Hum... I hear there is a new radar "detector detector" that can detect ALL current radar detectors. No radar detector is invisible from it.

Can't remember the name... www.speedzones.com or google will help. But that's pretty shxty.

BTW... I know all these radar detectors are suppose to be "software upgradable" and stuff, but has ANYONE ever actually upgraded the software? I've looked around and I don't see anything on the manufacturer's websites saying anything about the actual upgrade or how it is performed.

Perhaps "software upgradable" means something different?

Software upgrades are performed by the manufacturer when you send the unit back to them...for a "small" fee (over 50% of the original purchase price!)

Radar detector detectors are nothing new (search on V2 technology). All radar detectors leak a bit of their local oscillators signal to the free air (some more than others), and this is what they lock on to.
