Radio Anti-Theft Code
I had my car repaired and the battery was disconnected, so the radio's ant-theft system came on, which requires the 5 digit code to disable. I never received the code when I purchased the car and when I called the dealer they said now they don't have the code and that they have to take out the radio to get the serial number to get the 5 digit code. I would really prefer not to have them do that. Anyone have any suggestions of how else to obtain the code. Can I contact Honda directly?
I think them not having the code is bs. I bought mine used and did not have the code, the dealer that did work on mine, who I have used for over 10 years on other Hondas, called, based on my VIN and located the dealer that sold it and got the code from them. They should offer to get it without charge if they never gave it to you.
Are you sure the dealer never gave you a plastic card with the code on it? Sometimes the dealer removes one of the stickers that come with the code card and puts it somewhere on the car (door, center console).
If not, try 1-800-33-Honda, Ext. 901. Your dealer really should track the number down for you.

Did you buy from a dealer or third party? If from the dealer then they can get it fairly easily by doing a VIN search in the Honda database. Go to http://www.honda.com and see if you are listed as the owner of the car. If you bought it second hand have the dealer update the Honda Owner database after he verifies Title. This database is also how Honda knows who has which car in case of service bulletins and recalls.

I had the same problem with my car. I went to the service manager, he checked the file on my car and gave me the number. After that he chewed out the salesperson who sold me the car for not giving the number to me.
I also bought mine used, and had no radio code. The dealer told me that the selling dealer is to record the code in the file. Since the original owner didnt have this done, and didnt provide the card, I was SOL.
So, rather than pay for them to find the serial #, I used Pinky's excellent instructions to remove the radio door, pull out the radio and get the serial #. I had the radio out, number recorded, and radio reinstalled in 10mins tops...
5 mins on the phone with the dealer and I had my code...
Its really easy to do.
Don't assume the dealer did you any favors
The story I got which IS believable is that Honda keeps records of the code based on the radio serial #, not the car VIN#. The dealer, if nice, will make a note of the code on their file for you. But, if they fail to do this, you have to provide the serial# of the radio.
Imagine, if you will, that your radio was replaced under warranty. Then the original code would not be valid. So, because of this, the code is only referenced with the serial #...
hope that helps!
