Default Rain Problem

Hello Everyone!! Proud to be a new guest, but need some advice. I bought an 02 last fall, and am loving every minute of ownership until it rains. That's when my drivers side window starts going down and up in jerky motions on its own. I always jump, and think that my elbow must have touched the switch (which we all know is impossible). Sometimes, I can't get the window back up using the switch and have to drive home while getting a soaker. The switch then cures itself later. The Dealership would not do anything until they could see proof of this problem. They sprayed water on it with the engine running, and didn't get a response. Just when I was about to pull out of the service bay, it rolled down on it's own again with the (service write up guy) watching! Finally, someone saw. They replaced the master window switch, and I drive through the winter with my hardtop and Blizzaks without problems.

So a few days ago, Michigan gets hit with this big Thunderstorm. Of course, I'm out driving for some reason on the highway and waddaya think. The drivers window goes bizerk again and rolls all the way down. Soaker again.

Does anybody know what I need to tell the dealership to fix this problem?? They don't seem to have a clue.

Help

I would think an obvious place to start would be the switch itself...make sure the plastic is solid and preventing water from dripping into the interior of the door (meaning between the plastic and the door panel. Check the wiring itself up and past the grommet to make sure none of the wires are stripped or frayed. Then check the motor and regulator assembly for signs of condensation/water damage.

I think the window goes down due to the negative Ions in the atmosphere during a thunder storm. These negative Ions will adversely affect the electrical components in your car. I think you should sell it and buy an Element. That's more your style.

I wish I could offer some help, but unfortunately I can not. Actually, this is the first time I have ever read about someone having this problem. Seems to me the water is causing a short someplace - but where??? Maybe someone with a lot of time could track it down with a continuity tester.

Oh, and by the way, I like your nephew Bacchus, ain't family fun....
