As far as liquid products, rain x is the most amazing stuff i have ever seen. mostly at night, in the pouring rain. Hard to believe!

Is MEK the same as Acetone? I've never heard of MEK but years ago a paint store clerk told me that Acetone would remove most anything. I used it to remove floor tile glue from the tiles after a poor quality install. It worked real well.

I will try it (MEK or Acetone) after I hear from you. I've always wondered how to get the road film and etc off the windshield to make it really clean.

Thanks

Nail polish remover is the same as acetone so be careful. Try using Plexus on your head/tail lights. That's what I use.

MEK and Acetone are both ketones and both are strong solvents, but not the same thing. MEK is a substantially stronger solvent and would do some serious damage to your paint job in a hurry. Acetone is also strong, but not quite as agressive. If you can't find MEK, though, the acetone should do the job.

What is Plexus? Is it for cleaning plastic?

This has been a great thread. I've learned an awful lot today.

Thanks to everyone.

I am anxious to see how the Rain-x works on my 4Runner tomorrow.

Rain-X (ven more so than Zaino), is about the only product that I have ever used where the results were so completely impressive that I began evangelizing everyone I spoke with as if I were John the Baptist.

It works.

It rained real hard today. I drove all the way home without putting my windshield wipers on. This Rain-x is as good as you all said it is. Thanks for the good advice.

Now I'm looking for silicone wipers. Chipperman, where did you find them?

One more benefit I've found with Rain-X: Ice/frost scrapes off easier!
