Dont get me wrong, I have my share of compliments that I recieve however, it really does seem like its out of jealousy. I live in Nj, its not too bad up there, but at school down here in Va the kids always have something to say. Unless its a fellow s2k owner, or people that just want to talk. But I know what you are talking about when you drive, people think you are going faster than you actually really are. I never heard my car from the outside, so I wouldnt know. Is the engine that loud to make someone say "slow down?"

When the S2000 is above about 4,000 RPM it sounds like it needs to be shifted into the next gear, so people assume you are going too fast just by the noise.

Anyone ever had any run-ins with police for something like this?

I know in the regional forum a person mentioned that he thought he was pulled over because he VTEC'd in 1st or 2nd, but wasn't driving fast.

I could see it drawing attention to you, and unsuspecting cops could probably say something about it.

Guess we gotta be careful where-ever we go. Good advice though.

Before I bought the S, I gave some thought to this kind of thing. I've only had it since August and no negative encounters so far. It's not my every day car though so I am a bit particular about where I go in the S. I usually end up on some twisty country roads.

My other car just might be the friendliest car there is, a Jeep Wrangler. These things are thicker than fleas, and the Jeep wave is famous. They're so commonplace nobody seems to be jealous that you're running around with the top down having a great time.

I tried to look up past topics and didnt come up with andything. And I didnt feel like posting another topic but I do have one more question. Exactly how many s2000's were produced since 00 till now? Is it rare like the type R as where they only made 700 each year from 97-01? Probably not that rare, but just curious as to how many S2k's honda made. Thanks.

I thought Honda originally built 5,000 for the states in 2000 and 2001 each year. I think they stepped up production a little bit for 2002 and 2003, as I remember seeing VIN numbers higher than 5,000.

Yeah, I got stuck driving behind a couple soccer-mom-mobiles a few days ago, as soon as the third lane opened up, I dropped it into 3rd and A cop pulled me over about mile later and asked me if my exhaust was legal
I think he just wanted to check the car out.
