I've been shopping for an S2K for a while but I recently saw some buttons on the center console of an '01 that I've never seen before.

If you know what these are for, please educate me. Thanks.

 

They are for a hard top. Mine came with them also. Now I just need to get my hands on a hard top

 

As RWD HNDA has stated ... these are for the defroster on the rear window of the hardtop option fot the model years 2000 and 2001.

The 2002 model year has a glass rear window for the soft top with a defroster button on the dash that is also used for the hardtop defroster for 2002 and up ...

Does the car your looking at come with a hardtop? If not, it would appear it is already set up for one and would simplify the purchase of a used one in the future should you ever want one.

 

Mine is an 02 with a hardtop and has this button (as mentioned it's the rear heated screen switch), but mine is a UK car so the 2 buttons on the dash are used for the fog light and headlamp washers (which I don't think you guys have).

 

I have those buttons so the rest of Greek S2000 Owners, plus Europe for MY00-02! The right button is for the rear glass defroster of the hardtop which I dont have! The left button is for the headlight water sprayers which I have removed the plug underneath the console cause I always pushed it with my hand by accident! It was the first mod I did on my S!

 

those buttons suck!!! That's where the cell phone holder belongs!

 

I would have thought that the little "defrost symbol" would have been a giveaway?

 

is there something in the place of the normal defrost button or what???

 

Yeah, yeah, I kinda figured I'd catch some flack for that. I was more interested in the second button that had no markings, which our Euro and Aussie friends hav answered for me. Thanx

 

the button with no marking on it is either the smoke screen or the oil slick depending on which option the original owner wanted
