Rattle in cabin (vid)
Been trying to isolate the sound. Took shifter and radio apart. Didn’t do the trick. Mechanic said it’s not mechanical - checked the usual visor/mirror/rear window. Any ideas?

I have seen other threads describing the oil cap getting dropped down behind the engine and laying on top of the transmission case. Apparently, its a bitch to get to, as you have to jack up the car and get to it from underneath. Sounds like it may be worth looking into.
appreciate the response. I’ll take a look this evening. Noise is driving me crazy.
Trending Topics
Noise was so prominent that I didn’t want to believe a cap was the culprit, but by that point I was determined to test. It took a long while to even see it, it was hidden and when I initially noticed threading from the cap, I assumed it was something else entirely.
Took a clothes hanger, minor alteration and shoved it down there to see if anything would budge. And sure enough, it was the cap all along. It’s so difficult to spot, let alone get to, that capturing a photo of the angle, location was impossible. It’s a super tight squeeze even when rolled upward, heat shield prevented it from dropping below. Chunky oem caps. Had to create a fish hook and slowly roll.
First drive after, I was already conditioned to hear the rattle - and thankfully it didn’t return.
Ironically, my buddy stopped by when I had the car delivered and noticed my aftermarket cap. But didn’t say anything, lol. Months of agony could have been avoided

What tipped me off was the fact that the rattle changed with engine RPM. It also sounded like it was something bouncing around as opposed to a "rub against something" type noise or a grind. I can tell you, I am such a rattle hunter, that noise would have driven me insane long, long ago! So glad to have helped to quiet your car. Now you'll be able to hear the clutch buzz (replace with OEM AP1v2 clutch), and the top latches rattle (get felt tape), and the seat belt squeaks (use the furry side of velcro tape), and the windows rattling in the doors (replace the rubber top trim pieces that the windows rises through). You can see what my OCD has made me discover!
Just so I understand this correctly, did your oil cap come loose on its own?
Or did you find a completely different oil cap stuck down by the transmission (maybe from the previous owner or something)?
My car came with an aftermarket cap too, now I'm curious to know if the OEM one is stuck somewhere below lol.
I'll have to see if I spot any rattles when it's out of storage next week.
