Are you wearing your seat belt? If not it could be the metal part of the buckle hitting the plastic next to the seat.

Seatbelt rubbing against the leather maybe?

I know it's not the seatbelt.

I remember reading a post about the middle part where the top folds need to be taped using a felt tape...any other suggestions?

Very strange as there is nothing around the "left shoulder area of the passenger side" except empty space (assuming a model with steering wheel on the left side like the USDM model). Can you describe the rattle more? Is it metalic like a loose nut? Or is it like a rubbing sound? Stress "cracks"? When this happens, is there a passenger in the car? Or does having a passenger make any difference at all to the sound? Any additional info would help to identify the source. Good luck.

I have that too occasionally, especially when it's cold. It's a metallic rattle that I think is coming from the seatbelt retractors. They are located behind the covers under the roll bars. Next time I'm at my dealer I will complain about it.

I have it to and its killing me, if you figure it out let me know! For now I stuffed a shirt between the seat and the back of the car and it stopped the noise.

maybe the bolts on your seats are loose.

i had the same problem, but once i got the kodokan seat locks, the problem went away for the most part.

also, do you have an aftermarket suspension? if it's too stiff, then the rattle will be inherent.

It's hard to describe the sound...it sounds like metallic...

I took off the 2 screws that's holding the seatbelt bracket (by the headrest) and put it back iin...and it still rattles. But when I was holding the seatbelt it kind of stopped rattling...I guess it's the seatbelt rubbing against the bracket. I'm not going to worry about that...although it's annoying...

I still need to fix the rattle in my sterring column. I'll just take the car to the dealer.
