Drive the beater. The S2000 is too special of a car for the daily grind, and it's worth collecting.

The Real Value of a Classic
I enjoy driving my S2000 in the rain. Not so much in the snow. Also, if you ever plan on tracking the car... you'll be happy when all your bolts aren't rusted beyond recognition. Our first AP1, we had to cut off endlinks because the Allen bolt was so rusted. Everything you do to a rusted car will take twice as long and make you swear twice as much. It's worth enough to me that our second S2000 doesn't see much Winter use just because I know what kind of PITA it'll cause me in the Spring.
I say drive it. I thought the same thing when I bought mine but it just wasn't doable. It felt wrong storing the car for more months in the year than "driving" it. Sure it'll be a classic in 40-50 years maybe, but so will alot of other cars. Is it worth waiting 40 years for ONE honda to become a classic? CRX's are close to 30 years old by now (close) and the value isnt ANYTHING close to spectacular. And that's a car I would have thought would go down as a classic. Anyway, it comes down to this.. ID DRIVE IT!
I drive my S2k because I have a perfectly good '04 Civic for the daily grind. Daily driving the S2k would put wear on the car, there's no way to avoid it. So at the end of the day I'd rather beat up the cheap reliable Civic, then the more expensive slightly less reliable s2000.
I got my 04 silverstone last Sep. and since it was my only car, I had to drive it daily even through especially brutal winter in NJ. I played with the idea of getting a beater but I enjoyed driving the S so much on a daily basis that I decided against it.
Well, last week, I was given a 97 maxima by a family member who was moving abroad. My S sits on the driveway now only for the weekends and this concept of having a beater has given me a peace of mind. I always parked the S in a commuter parking lot near Newark during the day and was always concerned of its safety which I no longer have to think about.
In response to OP's post, I think a balancing test between the enjoyment of driving the S on a daily basis and having a peace of mind of driving the beater while S sits at home must be weighed. For me it weighed more towards the latter.

Let's face it. When we bought our cars, we invested in a depreciating asset. From a business aspect, it's a terrible idea. If you really just enjoy the S2000 as an expensive weekend toy, that's understandable too. However, there were so many S2000's produced and there are many people on this forum who also have the mentality that the S2000 is too precious to drive. This means years down the road, there will be plenty of S2000's that were stabled, probably not a huge demand, and probably a low price point.
Definitely drive it!! Keeping it garaged will still lose value but you won't be enjoying it at the same time.
Commuting in the S is a million times better than in a beater imo. Was the best part of my day at my old job. Nice ride to and back from work every day was great!

I say drive em! I use my S as my daily, with the cost of running both vehicles and insurance. Unless you want to collect the S, for future resale. They still made enough S2000 to go around, its not like its a Porshce Carrera GT. Enjoy the toy, but this is only my opinion... everyone has different outlooks.
