Rear Axel problem on S2000s
I'm Not on here much anymore, but I thought I would share.
Both mine and my brothers S2000s are in the shop right now getting new rear axels under warranty for the rear vibration problem. Just thought I would let you guys know.
They told me it was my tires and I told them to eat it. They fixed it now

Good point, however my brothers S2000 has and always will be stock and faces the exact same problem. I thought at first the lowered suspension may have been a cause, but with my bros doing it I figured I would mention it.
***disclamer- My car was only run that low for car shows for short amounts of time/mileage

Yeah, I see this as a major wear item for the cars. Now that some of us are getting some miles on the cars, I'm seeing more and more people having this problem. Must be something wrong with the hardening process??? Design??? At any rate, I hope they figure it out soon - I can't afford to change out my CV's every 15-20k miles.
very true. I went through a problem on my civic with the GSR engine. I went to a company with lifetime guaranteed shafts and the guarantee is comforting, but them not breaking ever is even better. I got my S2000 axels done under warranty, but some of these failure may take place outside normal warranty periods (i have extended so no worries0 but anyway, i hope that Honda comes up with something better. I am checking with centinel about new axels for the S2000.

I just got back from the dealer this morning for the exact same problem. The dealer was very helpful. They are ordering the parts for the rear axle and also for the tsb for the clutch rattle. They did not give me any problems about fixing both of these. I have 20000 miles on my car and this started at about 18000 miles. I have a feeling unfortunately though that this is going to happen to most of our cars at between 15-30000 miles.

Reverend - why do you need CV's every 15-20K?
TIA!
