Default Rear bumper VIN number location

I am not able to find the VIN number for the rear bumper on my car. On almost every car I have owned, the VIN tag has been on the top of the bumper, covered up by the trunk lid, so that when you open the trunk, you can read the VIN. Is that the case on our cars as well?

I know my car has a Salvage title, but all of the VIN numbers up front match, and I want to see if the rear bumper has been replaced or not.

Thanks for the help on my pretty basic question

How about the trunk?

At least you know where the damage is. I'd honestly prefer the damage not be to the front bumper myself.

The trunk was resprayed because the previous owner closed something tall in it, and dented it. They bought a yellow trunk and painted it black to match the car. That has a VIN on it, just not a matching one. The rear bumper just appears to not have one!

my guess would be if there is no VIN it was replaced

same way i found out my car had been in an accident(other than the slight paint mis-match) i was stopped in a honda checkpoint(yea thanks NYS) where they were checking for stolen parts, they checked every vin and then told me my car was hit at one time and had the fender and such replaced.....oh well i guess
