Default Rear Glass

I saw a writeup on how to install a glass rear window in an S2000 that has a plastic rear window. I think it is something I'd like to do. I can't find the writeup (bookmarked @ work), but while I'm thinking about it - where can I get a piece of window glass to put back there? The writeup said there was no defroster - so I know it isnt from an 02+ S2k.

Are you sure about this write up?

The glass and plastics are two different sizes. Since the glass can not fold, it needs to be shorter than the plastic window. The rear glass is as large as it can be in the S2000. If you plan to never lower your 01 soft top again then I am sure that you can install a glass window.

I would recommend visiting cabrioworld.com for a canvas soft top with rear glass to fit 00-01. It is a bit pricey but is beautiful. I have also seen tops (OEM quality) on eBay without defroster for less than $500 shipped!

The writeup mentioned using elastic straps to pull the top closed faster. I will check out the two you mentioned tho - sounds like a better option. Will an 02+ OEM top it on an 01?

02 OEM tops when I see them for sale are more expensive than the cloth top from cabrioworld.

get ready for very very low rear visibility. but glass looks 14x neater and nicer than the plastic window!

I don't think it possible to just buy a piece of glass and add on to your existing top since 00-01 plastic top are big and 02-up glass top is smaller. If you gonna buy a piece of glass that is the same size of your 00-01 plastic window, there's no way your tops will fold down. If you're gonna buy a piece of 02-up glass, you would have to do some major works to fit it in your 00-01 top. Probably end up costing more than a new top plus if it possible I would love to see this write up also. The straps you've mentioned are needed for 02-up/style top when retrofit in 00-01 to fold down comfortably. Check out mine - just had it installed a few weeks ago. It's a Canvas top with Defrost, costed around $700 shipped.
