I just checked the tread depth on the front versus rears on my S and I couldn't believe the diffrence. Fronts have substantially more tread then the rears. I have 3800 miles and I do drive agressively but I have never spun the rear tires. I was wondering what kind of mileage others have gotten out of their tires? I did a search for this but not much came up on this topic.

Try this:

http://search.s2ki.com/search.php?q=tire+wear

You will wear the rears more then the fronts on the S2000, this is normal.

robb,

I'll throw in my 0.02 cents. My rears are a hair from the wear bars with 14k kms (approx. 9000 miles). My fronts are actually not too different from the rears, 3-4 hairs from the wear bars, but I do autocross and do the occasional track day.

To sum up most of threads I've read, the rears last from 8000-15000 miles and that regular use will allow two sets of rears for every set of fronts. To maximize treadwear you can "rotate" tires left-right by remounting them. You can also use a less performace more tire wear friendly alignment by reducing the camber and the toe in on the rears.

Emphasis on remounting, don't just pull off the wheel and swap them.

Unless I'm mistaken because I'm tired but the S02s are directional.

Thanks Fongu. My biggest concern with the treadwear is not necesseraily having to shell out the $$ for new tires but losing traction while I'm driving. I'm going to make sure I monitor the tires frequently.

Trip on this.

I replaced rears at 30,000 miles. I still have the original OEM fronts at 49,000 miles. I need to replace them before I hit 50k.

You are right I did see some posts in other threads stating the S02's are directional.

I haven't checked the treads on mine yet, and I have over 5,000 miles. I guess I better do that tonight, as well as (re)check oil level and tire pressure.
