Rear view mirror trim fell off... HELP!
I put a sun deflector under my windshield and bumped the mirror attachment trim slightly. It popped right off!
It won't fit back on the way it seems like it should (from the top), it only clips on and stays from the bottom. And not very tightly!
When it clips from the bottom, the metal shows from the top. Seems like maybe a piece is missing (I looked all around and couldn't find any.)
Somebody who knows the way it is supposed to be, please help!

There should be an upside down plate in the shape of an U attached to the window. Then you should slide the entire mirror assembly in. After sliding it in you need to tigthen the lock bolt that is near the bottom of the mirror handle (should see a hole the bolt goes in there). That keeps the mirror in place and then another cover (U shaped) slides over the handle.
My mirror was not disassembled. A black plastic trim piece (fake leather grain, U-shape) fell off when lightly bumped. I just want to know how it's supposed to be put on (from the top or from the bottom). I can only get it to stay from the bottom, but then you can see metal hardware from the top. If I put it on the top it refuses to clip into place.

just happened to me after 2 weeks with car.
humm, i struggled with it for a few minutes before i gave up.
when you figure it out let me know - mostly i can't crane my neck/head the right angle to see what is supposed to happen.
btw, no knock on the car, but every few days appear some random parts on the floor of the car! my cup holder is full of screws and plastic clips and stuff that I find on the floor.
my only guess is that I must be driving it too hard and its falling apart ;-) my wife suggest that I put some small camera up in the dash above my feet and just go out and shoot vid of what my feet/legs are whacking into whilst I throw the car around in the hills going through >15 gear changes a minute.
