I've posted before that my was vandalized and my convertible top was torn. I'm wondering that since there's a recall on the rear window, can't I just bring my car in for that? Wouldn't replacing the rear window require replacing the whole top? This way I don't have to go through all the insurance and police reports.

Did I miss that there is a rear window recall? I only know of the top cover and seatbelts.

I will watch for a reply.

Also, you can replace the rear windo without replacing the top, IMO. I believe there was a previous post where someone had a bad rear window replaced under warranty.

thanks

I think there is a TSB on it, but not a full recall.

Any info on that TSB?
My rear window is in very bad shape.
I can't even tell an Acura TL from a Toyota Solara.

Bummer of a situation, but I don't think that there is a recall on the window. I do think that the window can be replaced without replacing the top. I believe that TFota posted that he was getting his rear window replaced by the dealer as a "one time courtesy", or something to that effect. Perhaps he will comment if he sees this. I seriously doubt that you will get the dealer to replace an obviously vandalized window and top as any such sort of "courtesy." If there is an upside here, I don't think that your insurance company can raise your rate because of paying a claim resulting from vandalism. It is not like you had an accident. Good luck with it.

I was in a similar situation. My top was cut but the rear window was not touched. First the TSB on the rear window only details how to clean and protect the rear window, it's not a recall. You can replace the rear window without replacing the top but it involves removing the top anyway.

If your top was cut, you can have them replace the rear window at the same time. Get them to order the rear window along with the top.

My top and window were replaced for around $1,400. I only had to pay the insurance deductable.
