After numerous suggestions from this site I have bought a pool noodle and am in the middle of creating my own window roll. A search of rear window roll will give you many ideas.

Pool Noodle : $ 1.50
3ft Material: $ 5.00 estimated (buying tomorrow)

My wife who is excelent with a sewing machine estimates it will take approximately 2hrs from start to finish to make both the well mat and the roll. The roll should have a tail to keep the window from rubbing against itself.

I have taken my car out only 3 times since I got it 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have had the top down with only a flannel sheet in the well for most of that time and am hoping when I put it up tomorrow all is well....

So for < $8.00 and 2hrs work there should be adequate protection against scratching and creasing.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Justification... can you have your wife make me one? I'll pay for the materials and shipping! Maybe even some labor... ;-)

I use an rolled-up old beach towel. I can't imagine the "Miata Tube" working any better and if I lose it I'm not out $40.
