My good friend in Japan called Toshi told me about a recent recall in Japan about seatbelt sensor.

I don't quite know why it was recalled but soon Toshi will explain to me.

Strange though, recalls overthere is completely different than ours.

So far 3 recalls for Japanese S2000.
Front bumper, Control arm effecting up to specific number (7000) and recently seat belt sensor.

Ours is on convertible covers and SB for grinding issue.

Toshi explained little about why the seatbelt sensor is recalled.
Something about way the seatbelt moved.
Sometimes it will get stuck and suddenly it will move with intensity? I suppose?
I don't know if this will also affect US models.
Wonder if anyone had similar experiences?

Yes, most probably it will affect US models.

I have just received a letter from Honda recalling my car for this very same problem.

It's probably coming westward... First Japan, then Europe, then the good old Usa.

My drivers side seat belt gets stuck all the time. Sometimes I can't even pull it forward, then there are the times when there is absolutely no slack. I complained to the dealer about this and he said that a fix was coming.

The letter that I got is a bit vague.

It states that the problem affects only some Y2000 models, the symptom being that it's impossible sometimes to extend the seat belt due to a fault in the retracting mechanism.

Thats it! It's just damn uncomfortable when you are under it and can't extend it.

I've heard that this is what's delaying delivery of MY2001s to the US.

Ooops. I think I posted this on www.honda-acura.net but it was around the time of the implosion. My brother in law sent it to me. Notice that it DOES affect both MY2000 and MY2001 based on build date.

AHM told my dealer that this was what was holding up delivery of the first USA MY2001's. They wanted to take care of the problem at distribution. This comes from a CNN-Industry-Watch post. My brother in law works in the automotive industry (executive in a company that makes catalytic converters).

Same problem here, sometimes it holds me in, and sometimes it is completely loose. There seems to be no explanation to why it does either.

Anyone know anythin?

Thanks,
