wow, sorry to hear about this!
I guess the loose spark plug TSB was never actually completed? Should Honda not have completed the TSB automatically while the car was there for service in the past?

The spark plug issue was not a TSB. It was an update campaign (recall) and the notification was sent out to all owners. Some service writers may be proactive and check for recalls whenever a customer comes in for routine maintenance but just like everything else in life, its really up to the person handling the case.

Sorry to hear about your incident. I agree. If you have spark plugs disintegrating, you'll need alot more than just a new cylinder head. I'm thinking you'll need a complete long block to get you going.

As mentioned above, the modified spark plug and new torque spec was a recall, not a TSB. However, the owner is still responsible for bringing the car in for service. I have to imagine that damage resulting from a faulty part under recall will not be fixed after a reasonable interval from the issuing of the recall notice.

When I bought my car with 7,800 miles, I went to the dealer that week to check if all the recalls has been performed. The dealer can simply run the VIN and check it out.

I surely hope you are able to get a free replacement, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't cooperate.

Check your spark plugs people!

I myself found one of my coils slightly loose once. It will be a regular check item from now on.

Just over 100K. I swear she drive like new! Well drove.. Honda confirmed the plugs did not have to be replaced until 110K.

I have a '00 and I never received a recall notice. I bought it used, so I'm not sure how Honda would be expected to know I own the car.

I'm not worried about the spark plug recall; I remove them at the end of winter storage every year and replaced them a couple of years ago.

They wouldn't.. They would have sent the notice to the original owner I suspect. This is why every new owner of a used S2000 should go to a dealer and check that all recalls have been performed
