Recently saw the top Gear Video
I just saw a few days ago the video comparing the s2k vs the bmwz4 and the boxter and in the end, the s2k had the worst time out of all of them on the track. I mean it was all very close but ive always thought that on the track the s2k would have the advantage. The problem would be on a drag strip with the bmwz4 and the boxter. What do you guys think..Thanks
is this the race where the track was really wet? if so, well, that's the problem. see the s2000 doesnt perform very well in anything but nice warm and dry tarmac due to the fact that it has absolutely zero provisions for traction control like the other two cars.
btw, the top gear viewer/reader survey slated the s2000 as the overall best sportscar for 2004 ahead of the 911 (2nd) and boxster (3rd).

Yeah man, it was freaking raining! Did you see how loose the S got in that one turn? That will easily cost .2 seconds.
Well, in stock class auto-xing the S kills both the boxter and Z4 so make what you will of that.

auto-xing in the rain. thats why u pay, on average, $10k more than an S for those cars, handling in the rain. in my opinion, who auto-x's in the rain?

ps - i think it makes the s2000 more of a "track" car that it doesnt have traction control and whatnot

The European rags have not had as much praise for the S2000 as the American ones. Go figure. I also suspect that issues of wet performance aside, the European drivers don't like the lack of torque grunt at low RPMs. And yet, it's true, though, that the reader survey on top gear puts the S2000 as #1 with the customers. That's really what matters, isn't it?
Believe what you like. The S2000 is a monster in auto-X and always has been.

Isn't that why you have to put up with 8000rpm these days, while we still revel in the delights of 9k?

I wouldn't crow too much about the survey guys. Let's just say that there were one or two extra votes

Isn't that a form of traction control? They should start making the S2000 without a LSD so it will be a better track car.
