Default Recommended rim size and gear ratio

I've read past forums posted about purchasing 17inch or 18 inch rims. I was wondering if i would purchase 17 inch rims that would be smaller than the stock due to the tire size being 40, would that help. Or if i would just put on my stock s2k rims 45 or 40 tire size and keeping it at 205,225, what difference would i be looking at. I know if i would purchase 18 that there is a good chance that my car wouldnt be performing as good as if i would get 17. Whats your opinion.. Thanks..

When you change rims size, you want the rolling circumference and diameter of the new wheel/tire combination to be as close to stock as possible, within plus or minus a percent or two. This means that you have chose tires of the correct aspect ratio and width. A mistake many people make is disregarding this simple guideline.
