Default red to black interior swap

Has anyone swapped their red interior to a black interior, and if so how difficult is it? It doesn't look too bad.

Also, what about changes needed to make it appear as a newer S2K.

And, has anyone swapped in a glass back window to replace their plastic one? Can it be done and make the defogger work?

only part that sucks is the center console carpet goes up and under the cd player and up to the firewall and is bolted on under the cd player. You should cut the carpet behind the knee rests on both sides. there is a narrow strip about an inch wide, just cut it there. you'll never see the carpet up and under the cd player anyway, and you can just rip that carpet out with a few hard tugs if you just want to get it out to throw it away.

if you want to take it out in one piece, the entire dash has to come out which means you have to drop the steering column, take out the guage cluster, airbag, etc

First, the back window, the entire top needs to be replaced and some slight modifications made to the top frame. There are many threads around for that. Since you have a plastic window, you must not have the FULL red interior, so the process is not too difficult.

I went from all black to red/black.

I didn't swap out the carpet, but the carpet would be the toughest part by far.

The door panel inserts and seats are easy to do.

hey, i was also wondering about this. the part that i fear the most is the dash with the airbag. is it hard to take the dashboard out? and how about the passenger airbag? if you take that cover out wouldn't the airbag go off? and what do you guys think of a white S with all black interior (has it been done?) vs black/red interior? sorry for all the questions but i'm in the same boat as campbuds.

White with all black has been done, it's nice.

Removing the dash is a PITA. I have not done it, but wouldn't want to do it on a lark. It can be done, but it's very time consuming. You will need to drop the steering column to make it happen. Do a search for DJ Qube and find his dash control install instructions. He describes the process to remove the side controls and you have to drop the steering wheel for that too.

The airbags are something you want to be careful with, but should not fear. Pull the fuse(s) associated with it and you will be fine.

The door panel inserts are easy to do. Click the All Black to Red/black interior link that is in my Sig. There are pictures and descriptions.

Thank's Rueexp67;
So,when you manage to get the door panel off,all you have to do is unscrewthe black inserts,and screw the red ones,back in place,and reinstall the door panel??
No glue,or double side tape needed?
