Default red lined it???

did i screw it up?

it is broke in (3300 miles)

i came out of the parking lot and in first gear floored it doing about 10mph before i realized i hit 9000 and she kind of shut off the gas for a split second, i quickly shifted to 2nd. and kept on motoring.

it drove normally with no new noises, hopefully the shut off thing is normal and is a rev limiter?

yes or no?

No problem. I use the rev limiter instead of redline to gain a slight advantage any time I need that edge...

thanks,

i was hoping that it was a rev limiter and a design of the car, like most people that bought this car my dealer was a nice guy but not the expert one would hope for, thank god for this site.

S2KCouple - you didn't hurt your car. That's what the rev limiter is there for, so that you don't mess up the car.

When you downshift, the rev limiter doesn't work. That's a good way to blow your engine. Be careful out there.

This is when you want the rev limiter to work most ... why doesn't it work when you downshift????

Becaues the limiter cuts fuel.. when you downshift, it's the engine's momentum that's turning it past 9000, not the normal combustion cycle.

You could've possible damaged the engine, but if it was only for a split second, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think the engine can be revved to about 10,000 RPMs, but that it definitely the upper limit.

Yep, that suckers toast. Probally blew up the thingamabob and the watchamacallit. Probally twisted the underbearingcrankrotor and the distributorcushdrive. Hell, the worst thing was probally fouling antiballasticchromeshiftythingy. One last thing did you smile when you hit the revlimiter cause if you didn't your stook will never like you
