I like the idea of that heel pad. It is amazing what happens to mats from the heel of a shoe.

I am really thinking about picking up a set of those euro mats in red. The carpet over the humps is still in good shape but is a little lighter at the bends over the hump. It's almost like they are starting to bald, like me.

That’s a pretty funny observation. You and your S are truly kindred spirits.

I bought some of the black Euro mats last year and they really compliment the Tan/Black interior nicely. The tan carpet and factory rugs were still in really nice shape, but I really wanted the additional protection for the carpet where the cross brace hump exists (mission accomplished).

The heelpad warehouse versions are smaller and a different shape. Ideally you'd just need a small strip for under the pedals. Even Rick's seems unnecessarily large: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/uploads/g...61_2737601.jpg

I'd imagine you could get creative and come up with some other solutions if you aren't happy with anything mentioned so far. Just something strong, durable and aesthetically pleasing that can go over the mat. Plastic, rubber, vinyl, all would work.
That doesn't look too bad! Bud yeah, I agree, the Rick's pad is huge!

Another option I considered was to get those 'cut-able' rubber mats from Amazon on the cheap, then cut a nice section out to fit the heelpad area. Probably easier to get a more OEM look than other options mentioned. Just need to find a mat set that contains a desirable shape that would work well with these mats.

Like these mats, the backseat ones would work well if you trimmed down the top sides and kept that top center shape intact:

These are from heelpadwarehouse. It works well, it doesn’t look OEM, but for my purposes I was seeking function that wouldn’t be an eyesore. I plan to purchase an oem set of mats for shows and what not.

I think the disadvantage about something like this over the chair mat is that it's raised; my concern here would be that it could easily get knocked off and stuff under the throttle or brake pedal.

Totally agree and I have some extended mats with my red/black interior, I like the look but some don't.

Yes. I used very tacky spray glue. Loctite 300 heavy. Be careful as to where you place the pad. You don’t want the edge to catch your shoe.
