I went through this thinking awhile ago. Basically, if you use Redline, you can run the oil a lot longer, up to 15,000miles they say, as long as you change your filter in between and have the oil analyzed. Since I don't want to go through all that I went the second best route, Mobil 1 and change it with the filter every 5,000miles.

Manual states change every 3750 miles. 5000 is a bit long for high revving four.

I can add another one to the mix, although I haven't used it yet.

Royal Purple. It's supposed to provide more metal on metal protection than any other oil on the market today.

I currently change my Redline oil about every 3,000 miles since I drive it real hard.

The manual says change at 3750 for EXTREME conditions....7000 for NORMAL conditions. The question is....does anybody drive their S2K normally??? ;-)

I changed to Mobil 1 at about 4000 miles and noticed a definite decrease in performance. I changed back to dinosaur juice (also 10W30) and performance improved. I have no explanation for this puzzling phenomenon. I have used Mobil 1 in all my cars since the stuff came out. I might give it a try again sometime (I now have about 12K) on my S2000, but I'm wary.
