Redline MTL - Still notchy

New clutch fluid might give you a better shifting feel too. I'm going to replace mine with Valvoline synthetic DOT 3 and 4.
oh yeah good point, I lubed the slave cylinder and clutch fork with Honda Hi temp Urea, and swapped out the old clutch fluid at the same time as well, every little bit counts.

Shift quality improved at each dump and fill with Honda MTF, it's a great fluid that should be changed once a year, I'll be doing it every 6 months, but I'm anal about this stuff.
Honda MTF seems to be good. Gonna give Amsoil a shot the next few times.
i use GM syncromesh friction modified tranny fluid
it's still mechanical but i think it feels way better than the honda.
my friend has tried honda, redline, and the GM all in the last year and in his opinion gm was the best, and redline the worst.

probably not a problem that he left in those fluids. You can try honda mtf 2 that is what i wold reccommend as a good base line fluid for these cars as many people speak highly of it and I also noticed a difference. While it remains a thin fluid it can shear down quickly because of this and may need replacing sooner. a few things to try, make sure you replace and bleed your clutch fluid...this will give you added pedal feel and a better clutch in. grease your shift fork underside of the car and also grease the shifter in the car if it feels notchy with the car off.
it may just take awhile to learn the feel of the tranny i know for me it did. it felt finnicky at first and especially when the car was cold, it took some good time to warm it up. also it is normal to hear a click or "rifle bolt action" as described by some when you shift.

Anyone in the bay area wanna help me get underneath my car and do some of these things?
JFUSION, those sound like some good things to try. I just currently don't have the means, and perhaps not the mechanical know-how to do it, tho I'd prob figure it out... fairly competent, hehe. Just gotta get in there with some time on and tools in my hands.
So, anyone? I'll buy beer and pizza for a wrench, greaser, and fluid day

Lastly, removed, cleaned and lubed the shifter as per the TSB on it. Once I did this the feel of the shifter was amazingly smooth, made a huge difference, the first shift I did I wasn't expecting the shift knob to pull back so fast with such little effort, caught me by surprise.

JFusion, can you point me to this TSB or describe what you did? I want to do this soon.

There are good posts on this site for tranny fluid changes, slave cylinder lubes, clutch fluid swaps etc...., just do a search on each one.
The clutch rod adjustment is easy, just loosen the locknut with a 12mm wrench on the clutch rod, extend it out a couple turns and see if it helps. The adjustments are easy and you can do a bit at a time until it feels better.
Manual recommends transmission fluid change every 60K miles, and differential fluid change every 30K miles. So, you should be fine. I intend to stick with the manual.
I had the same notchy feeling about the transmission at first. I just got used to it and it works great.
