redlining question
Redline whenever you want. If you don't ever want to, then fine. If you want to drive at 7,500 rpm every moment you can, then fine.
Remember that if you're at redline and miss a shift...say redlining in 3rd gear and accidentally shift to 2nd gear....many bad things will happen. Easy way to avoid this is just not to mess up.

Hi, I'm Bob but you can call me Bob.
I have never taken my car over 4,000 RPM, but after reading your post, I decided to take her to 5400RPM today.
I'm 67 years old and must say I nearly wet my Depends.
I may actually try to give the wife the Willie tonight.
Man, I love this car!
There is no point redlining most cars, as most are well past peak power when they reach the red line. Ideally you should change up when the power in the next gear is equal or approaching the power in the gear you are in.
With the S this is closer to the red line than most, so changing just before the redline will give best acceleration.
If you chose to play boy Fangeo, & bounce it off the limiter, you will be slower than if you change earlier, the thing has no power with the sparks cut, but if that gives you your kicks, well go for it.
As posted earlier the designer set both the redline, & the rev limiter with a safety margin, so if not used to extreme you are operating within the design parameters of the car, however the harder you work it EG, towing, or high revs, the sooner it will wear out. The difference is only slight in something as well designed & built as our S, but it is still there.
Sharps SSS I'm 73, but regularly change up from 3Rd at about 8800RPM in my 2001 model, when overtaking trucks on our country roads, I suggest you try it, it is fun. Probably as much as your latter plan, which sounds like fun too. Go for it, you only live once.

Heck, I can't get to red line very often in city driving, even on the freeway system. Maybe in 1st or 2nd gear, but by that time the speed limit is long gone. On the track that is a different story, but I rarely get out of 3rd, even on the straights.
