Default Refund on Hondacare?

I was in a chevy dealership looking at trading in the S for a more pratical vehicle.

Don't flame me about selling the S If I could keep it I would, wont find a better replacement.

Anyway, I bought the hondacare warranty and they said more than likely, you can go into a honda dealership and request a refund, and they will pro-rate it for you.

Anyone know about this?

I may give them a call on Monday and find out. May be some extra coin for the trade in.

Yes, I did this refund twice. Once on a Honda and last year on the Acura I traded for my S. Once you trade or sell your car, take the extended Honda Care copy of your policy directly to the Honda dealer that sold you the warranty. Ask to see the business manager. Tell him you sold your car and want the refund. If your car is still under regular warranty, you'll get about 80% of what you paid for the original extended warranty. If not, then it's prorated. Make copies of everything before giving up the policy to Honda. Sometimes it gets lost in the cracks. It should take about 6 weeks before you can procure your refund. Don't feel funny about calling Honda once in a while to check either. Good luck, Ken

Yep, they do prorate the extended warranty, but they can do it one of two ways, whichever works out best for them.

One way is prorated according to time (how many months the car was owned divided by the length of the warranty)
The other way is by mileage (miles on the odo divided by miles warranty is good for)

I just did mine on my '02...

Can you get a refund even if you keep the car. Like, let's say I wanted to get a refund for whatever I have left but keep the car. You think they'll do that?

All you have to do is go to the dealer who sold you the warranty. You fill out a form and tell them your milage (they claimed you needed a odometer reading, but I told them verbally).

They send the form and you get your check in a few weeks.
I get back around 70%.
