Default Regret Molesting Your S2K?

I remember seeing a thread for mod you regret the most but I can't find it now...and my question is in general and for a few reasons..

my S was used as a track vehicle by previous owner so I got it slightly molested...I told myself I was going to take it easy and just drive it as is and before you know it I bought wheels, js racing exhaust and suspension, nothing crazy..but molested nonetheless

I love the exhaust at WOT, but being that I'm getting old and don't see WOT often at all, it ends up being annoying, especially because it's so gutless/just noise below 5-6k...the other part is that it invites every jerk off to try and race you and just drive stupid around you, the wheels I love the look of but being 18s it makes the gutless part that much more evident, I was looking to downsize to 17s but of course all the 17s I really want (volks) are a grip, not to mention all the other goods that we see scattered throughout the forums/endless wishlist of things I'd like to get makes you too consumed with trying to get parts versus just enyoing the car

lastly but not least, and it goes hand in hand with exhaust part, it makes me feel like a teenie bopper sometimes because I know I'm automatically associated with teenie boppers when people see me in it...the s2k demographic has changed drastically since the days where I couldn't afford it, and with all due respect to the young people, riding slammed on 215s, and buying $1700 wings with 700mm wingstands for parking lot pimpin' is just lame and not how I want to be potrayed/viewed as...I have non s2k people, like co workers tagging me in retartedly stanced s2ks all the time like when are you gonna do this? so clearly it's happening...so now when I see a stock one, it just looks "mature",an adult sports car..

however going back to stock is easier said than done, I've all ready had roll bar removed/stock plastics back in, just wondering if anyone else is going through this?

I have no regrets... But so far all I've wanted to do was wheels, side view mirrors and add a OEM spoiler.

I think the problem for some people [not saying you OP] is that people just do what other people do without thought.
People will always and forever tell other people what they should do and be. And some people follow right along
Screw that...

So you changed your car and now you want to change it back to stock...
What's the problem?

The car should not define who you are or how you drive. I feel mature if I'm driving my S or whatever. If your car makes you feel better stock then make it stock or just sell it. With or without it you are the same person.

Almost everyone who mods this car does so at the detriment of livability and usability on a daily basis. Loud exhausts, low/hard suspensions, body/fender modifications. All of that stuff works well for a track toy, but generally makes the car annoying on the street and is ultimately going to hurt resale value. I predict that clean, well maintained, stock copies of this care going to be worth a mint someday. By the time that day comes, almost all of them that are left will be beat and modded all to hell.

I hear that....I know it sounds simple as that, but it's been 10 years since I wanted to get into an S, I've been on the forum since 04, I've had a LOT of time to soak in all the things I wanted to do, so it's not that easy for me to just leave it alone

if I returned to stock,I'd literally have to avoid the internet/classifieds to just refrain from wanting things too it's me between a rock and a hard place

I went to an s2k meet recently and there was an original owned 00, guy still had it till this day and it was untouched and all of us that had done stuff were jealous of him for leaving it alone and being able to leave it alone lol. We were all saying we made the value of his car go up immensly. I don't DD the S so it don't bother me there, just generally speaking

I am still glad I covered the airbag warning stickers with the aluminum plates with S2000.

As far as the topic goes. I have already told myself exactly what my car will be, and what quality of parts will go into it. When its done, it will be done.
OEM ap2 front lip
OEM deck lid spoiler
K&N fipk intake
Hks high power exhaust
Carbon fiber lip protector/splitter
Carbon fiber side splitters
A couple carbon pieces on the interior
New floormats
*possibly* a set of different rims though I'm very partial to my ap2v2s
And either the bilstein pss9s or some other high end coil over for a mild drop.

I see all the time, certain local s2ks that really annoy me with how seemingly unplanned they are... then I realize how many compliments a nicely modded, or even my bone stock s2k receive... there's no need to modify it to hell and back unless that's your thing. If/when somewhere down the line the f22 goes, I'll either rebuild it, or find a suitable swap, but for now. Stock with some small goodies to finish the look. Just enjoy your car, as everybody says, they're not lamborghinis, they were meant to be driven. Look at the 240sx, 300zxtt, older Lexus is300s, they're all pulling decent prices for how old they are, its the nature of a desirable car... now don't think that means you'll be pulling 50k in for an unmodified s2k, but they'll always be worth something.

Ooohh I see.
Someone has the “mod bug” and doesn’t know if they can return to stock and be happy…

I don’t know if these cars will retain a “high value” status as time goes on so light mods may not mean much anyway.
I kept my factory wheels [AP2 V2] and side view mirrors in case I need to go back to stock but if I sell it private I would sell it as is and include the mirrors and wheels. However I have zero plans on selling this car!!

Some modified cars are well done and I never think “it’s some silly kid with too much money” when I see those.
Drive your car. Keep your mods if you want to and don’t look back.

I don't regret my exhaust or wheels mods at all. I have my stock AP1 wheels and stock exhaust for when the time comes that I become tired of my mild mods.

Folks around here don't think I'm a ricer or teeny-bopper in this car. For the most part, the people I associate with appreciate this car for what it is.

Besides, I purchased the car for me, not for adulation from others.

I don't regret my ricks front plate mount, or the oem accessory titanium shift knob. Everything I've done has been extremely subtle. The most I'm considering is AP1 front lip, oem side strakes, rx7 side diffusers, and clear turn signal lenses. Very simple, very clean. That being said, I think no less of one prepped for exclusive track use, or lowered for looks, or all out with a wide body kit. It's a car, it belongs to you, do as much or as little as you'd like.
