Don't feel bad Zach, I read it the same way at first. Until I got to the SUVs and saw the Hummer and GMC products. Then I knew it had to be "worst".
Nice that others are publishing the facts about our car. Sometimes reading this site one would think that the S is full of problems. Quite to the contrary. Joser Silver/Red |
I have had more failures on my S2000 than most of the dozens of new cars I have purchased. Granted it is worked pretty hard, but it also has seen alot of shop time. I really question if these statistics are compiled from comparable samples and evaluated on a even basis.
My car has had numerous transmission and clutch problems, fiascos with the MAP sensor, O2 sensor issues, the dash replaced, the window replaced, holes developing in the top, and a host of nits that I fixed myself. I would never rate is as tops in reliability. |
My 02 has been perfect. Oil changes only and its driven hard at times.

I have to admit, the S2000 has its 'quirks' that it seems most cars have. Most of them are not major, but they are annoying.
After owning an M3 before the S2000, I have to say that this car has still had FAR less shop time in the >1.5 years I've owned it compared to the 9 months I owned my M3. These cars ARE also driven extremely hard for the most part. I AutoCross mine regularly (my Fiancee also runs it with me as a two-driver car), and it never misses a beat. I've had the 2nd gear grind issue, but after fighting Honda a bit on that one, the problem is now 100% cured and hasn't come back since. I'm happy. It's not a Civic when it comes to reliability, but it's also being asked to do 3x what any Civic on the road is asked to do, performance-wise. |
cdelena,
I wonder what kind of condition your Vette would be in, if you had it instead of the S? |
