Default Reliable?

Hey guys. I live in MD, and for the past few years we have been getting a good amount of snow during winter. Well, i havent had my s2k in the snow yet. Unfortunatly this is my only car as of right now, and i have no choice but to drive it in the snow this year. Has anyone else had to do this? Keep in mind, i do have the SO2's on it, and no mods yet, except for being lowered. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? Or tips i could use for this winter? I have a feeling were gonna get some snow. <This is gone be me isnt it?? haha

You simply will not go where you are aiming if you have S02's on. Get snow tires or don't even think about leaving your garage if there is even the slightest chance of snow. You will literally be taking your life in your hands. I tried taking my '02 out to play in a parking lot with about an inch of snow on the ground and it got stuck pulling out of the garage.

As mean as it sounds, I would bet you $1,000 dollars that you will either get in a serious accident or get stranded somewhere if you try to make it through the winter on those tires- that's how serious the problem is.

Buy some Blizzaks and enjoy the car

No snow tires, no go!

Here's a thread with us playing in the snow in our S2000s.

You would probably be looking at a little over $100 per corner. Give Jim at the Tire Rack a call at 888-541-1777. No one is going to beat his prices or customer service.

And yes, from what I've been told, the S can be a true winter daily driver with the proper tires.

edit: Oh, and just so you know, I'm not affiliated with Jim or the Tire Rack in any way- I have just experienced their service first-hand.

Don't drive in the snow with stock tires. I am not able to get up a 5% incline with even a dusting on the ground with them (or at least have a very hard time).

I unfortunatly once had to drive home with the S02's on the car. I was at school and it started snowing, by the time we got out there was 2-4 inches of a mix of slush and snow...NOT FUN! I had to take a 90 degree left turn to get out of the parking lot. Everytime I would start to let off the clutch the back end would try to swing out. I had to push the clutch in and out in and out several times so I could swing the back end out to the right direction. From a stop at traffic lights, I had to start in 3rd gear, crusing at 25mph in 6th gear. Drfting around any and all SLIGHT turns....I'll never do it again, but it was fun after the fact and I got some valuable driving experience out of it...

Yeah Matt you are hosed with the S02's (I learned my lesson in rain about the S02's). I switched to Yoko all seasons for year round, yes I give up some handling but I can run in the rain and a small amount of snow without issues.

I just got Dunlop Winter Sport M3s (from tire rack). I was driving on S02s and even in the dry with cold temps in the 20s the car was scarry.

I JUST put on the M3s, so no impressions yet, but they get great reviews. They are performance snow tires so they should handle good on dry but cold roads which is what we get here in MD most of the time.

Ground clearance is your only real issue.

With Blizzaks, I've gotten around better than I have with a FWD car with all-season tires.
