Default Remote entry question

I noticed something yesterday when I went to unlock my S after work. The parking lights flashed 3 times. Does this mean that someone had gained entry? I have noticed this before and it only happens when I take the car to work. We have had a rash of cars broken into here so I try to not bring the S to work since the antenna and clear side markers have been stolen.

I've never paid much attention to the light flashes when unlocking the car via the remote. So are you saying that the flashes is a code? If so, where can we look up how to decipher the code? I don't remember reading this in the owner's manual, but then it's been 4 years since I bought the car. Obviously you know more about this than I do (probably most owners too). Please tell us more of what you know. Thanks.

A couple of things to consider:

1. is it the factory anti-theft alarm? if so there should be a codex in the owners manual describing the flashes. (usually it means the alarm went in warn mode or was actually fully engaged for the usual 1-3 minute cycle before it shuts off automatically) Most alarms seem to have this auto shut down feature.

2. if it is an aftermarket alarm (Viper, clifford, etc) you would have to consult the codex in that manual to determine the correct signal it was trying to tell you.

usually it is the type of alarm sequence I described above.

I hope this helps a little

3, usually means it went off when you were GONE.

No alarm, just the factory remote entry. I know someone was in it once before because there were fingerprints on the drivers glass on the outside and inside!

That's scary... you see those prints after they took the antenna and side markers? or was that a different case than this...?

This kind of stuff just burns me up inside. I'd take my S to work and wait for those bastard with some friends. Make sure they think twice about hitting that lot up again. I hate people that are to stupid to make an honest living.

Does your work have a survelance system where you can see what happened?
