Removing Gasoline!
Hey everyone,
I am putting my car into a show today, and it can be entered with more than a 1/4 thank. I filled my car up at the beginning of the week, thinking I would drive some and it'd be perfect, but I actually didn't drive at all. So instead of driving 150+ miles for nothing, I would like to take the gas out. I can't spell - siphine? Cyphine? Well phoenitcally you know what I am talking about. How can I do that?? I've never had to do this before, but I must now! Please help!! TIA

You actually suck? Is that the first step of siphoning it?
I thought if the end location was lower than my tank, it would drain itself?

To start the flow of liquid you suck on one end of a tube (just like a straw) and, just like a straw, the liquid is pushed into the tube by the difference in pressure.
Once the tube is filled, the exit end of the tube must be placed at a lower level than the liquid you are trying to siphon. The liquid in the exit side of the tube is then pulled down by gravity, creating a vacuum in the tube.

I guess you don't have any fish tanks...
If you go to Kragen or something, they should have a product just for this. It usually consists of a rubber hose with a ball pump(that you squeeze) at the end. This lets you save your sucking for something else.
Might as well pick up a gas can while you are there. Sometimes you can find a roadside assistance kit that includes jumper cables and a SIPHON

If you don't want to risk getting gasoline in your mouth, you might be able to pull a vaccuum using something like a shop vac or a pump.
"He didn't want to get gasoline in his mouth, so he decided to get the suction going by holding the end of the siphon hose up against a vacuum cleaner hose. What this meant, of course, is that he was sucking gas fumes directly into an electric motor, which as you know operates by having sparks fly around inside it. So the next thing Chess Earman knew, there was an explosion inside the vacuum cleaner, and fire was coming out of the back of it "like a jet engine.""
