Default Removing the Window Tape

Hi guys, sorta new to the s2k scene, but ive found this site VERY helpfull so thanks in advance! I tried doing a search, but could not come up with the answer I was looking for so hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction.

What/where exactly is this tape on the window that everyone talks about. I dont know if mine didnt come with it when I bought it or something, but I cant seem to find it. Is the main reason for removing it simply for asthetic reasons? If so does anyone have any pics?

Thanks for all your help!

Matt.

You haven't got a black car have you

The tape in question is black and covers the exterior of the windscreen frame. Quite a few theories to its purpose (try asking a dealer ) but most likely applied to blend with the softop. Those (lucky) people who don't have to use the roof often take it off so the frame matches the car, something I'm thinking of to blend it with the hardtop. Black cars don't have it as their frame is obviously black anyway!

Hond publicity pics often don't show the tape, try a search on Suzuka blue pic's these show what I mean.

Age wouldn't have anything to do with whether the paint underneath the tape is good or not. There are a few people with yellow cars (2001) that took the tape off and had problems with the paint.
