I just got my windows tinted, front windshield 35%, and the sides 15%. But the rear needs to be tinted. Has anyone replaced the rear with new plastic, or even better, has anyone replaced the rear with tinted plastic?

You tinted the widshield??? Don't know anywhere that's legal. Why only 15% on the sides?

You can't tint the back plastic except with static cling tint. I haven't tried it but at least one poster here has and it looked good on his car. Others have had difficulties.

My tint guy wouldn't do it, even with static. He recommended replacing the back window with tinted plastic which is supposedly available to upholstery shops. Since that's going to be expensive, I'll likely just wait for my original back window to age a bit and then replace it.

I am currently working on an aftermarket, affordable "work-around" with the rear plastic window.

......Stay tuned

It's not legal here in Va. None of the tinting that I have is. And 15% on the sides is almost too dark. Even on a bright day, you cant see in the car if the top is up. But it looks great on the red. Keep me posted on the rear. I'm not too concerned with the price, just want the look as soon as possible.

Brian-- For now, try getting Rick's tinted windscreen and leave it up all the time. That's what I do. It will help get the effect you want.

BTW, I don't know why I said 'only' 15% on the side windows... that actually would be a bit dark for me. I've found you can go with a bit lighter tint if your interior is black to get the privacy effect. 35% all around on my black/black NSX was great.
