Requesting Advice on Accepting Delivery of MY04
I am taking delivery of a Silverstone/Blk MY04 S2000 January 04. Does anyone have any advice on things to pay special attention to before signing? Any common problems that I should be looking for? Advice or personal experiences will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dean

<10 miles on odometer, preferably (mine had 7)
if your current insurance does not have comprehensive coverage, you will need comp in order to drive the car off the lot. take care of this ahead of time, otherwise you will be offered their in-house 30-day insurance, at friggin ridiculous rates.
congrats

I recommend you advise your insurance agent of the intended purchase and delivery as soon as you can before you take delivery. Make sure you have liability insurance on the vehicle before you drive it one inch. Other than that, take several slow walks around the car. Look at each panel slowly and individually to detect any dings, irregularities or mismatched paint. Look at the seams along the door, hood vs. fenders, and trunk vs. fenders. Do they all seem pretty evenly spaced? Look at the top. I discovered a big stain on the top of mine after I got the car home and put it away for the winter. Fortunately, I dealt with a stand-up dealership. (They sent a guy to my house 2 days later.)
Do the same for the interior. Try everything, radio, hidden compartments, the works.
It will be difficult looking at your new baby with a critical eye. Force yourself to do so; you'll have plenty of time to look at it admiringly later. If anything looks out of the ordinary in the slightest, sing out immediately. You're going to put down a boat load of money for arguably the best sports car you can buy "this side of Ferrari prices" as one writer put it. You want it to be perfect coming in.
Good luck. I know you won't need it.

Ask for the plugs for the front bumper where the license plate would go if you want them. My dealer tossed 'em. Maybe you should tell them ahead of time you'd like them.
Not sure about '04 models but on earlier cars there are black plastic "mudflaps" behind the front wheels that the dealer has to install. Some dealers neglect to do that.
Make sure they include the boot for the top.
You can negotiate the price on the extended Honda warranty if you want it.
I got a couple quarts of Honda's 10W-30 oil because you're probably going to need to add some before your first oil change.
