Default Resale Value

Anyone else disaponited by the resale value of the S?

When I look at the cars I loved as a teenager, the last gen RX7 TT/R2 and Supra TT their 10 years old and are selling for more then the AP1's.

Was the resale value always high for those two cars? Or did they start to go up after the Fast & the Furious came out?

I don't think the movie changed anything. I think it has more to do with their performance and style. Both are a little faster then the S. When they were new the cars became overpriced for the market and that is why we saw their end, including the 300Z.

I don't know the numbers but I think less were also produced.
I think they both had a short model run, anyone know?

Supply and demand and the fact that it's hard to find a clean RX-7, Supra TT or 300ZX TT that hasn't been modified out the ass and beat to death. When you do, you'll pay for it. Honestly, I don't think they make'm like they used to. Toyota still doesn't have a replacement for the Supra. Nissan's latest product, in my opinion, does not compare to what they used to produce in the early to mid 90's, with everything lately being based off the same chassis and engine. Mazda's RX-8... well I'm not sure what to think about that car. Sometimes I think it's cool and then I see that suicide door and the back seat. These Japanese sports cars of the early 90's were in a league of their own. They're still popular and are a rare find.

They were also about 10k more when new than the S, so the prices are higher 10 years later.

93'-95' RX-7 total # sold in the US is 13,8XX. I bought one in 1999 for $15K and sold it last year for $14K ...but then again I spend about $6K for new paint job and fixed all kind of problems that the prevoius owner broke.

FD's don't hold value like the Toyota's mainly because of reliablility. It appears the sheep will pay top dollar for a vehicle that is rare, reliable and easy to extract power from. The S has none of these traits.
