Default resonatorectomy

Ok...I've been looking at all kinds of aftermarket exhausts but either they cost too much or are probably gonna be too loud for my tastes. I saw the other post about quiet aftermarket exhausts and did a search but didn't come up with much about removing the resonator from a stock exhaust.

Since the resonator appears to have a hanger on it I expect it's gonna cost way more than $40 that people have been saying. Do the muffler shops just put in an oversized pipe and weld it in? By the time they cut out resonator, weld in new pipe, and weld a hanger on, I have to think it's gonna cost much more money.

Anyway I'm prob gonna get some quotes soon. If you have done this mod......please chime in.

Great mod. I did it a year ago and it gave me the increased rumble tone without the overly loud sound. Do a search in under the hood and there is much on this topic.

They cut out the resonator, and replace it with a welded SS pipe, cost is between $40.00 -$60.00 bucks.
Good quality welds are the important part.

I had this done about 2 years ago now, with zero regrets
It cost about $50, including a welded hangar on the new pipe.
To me, it's a no-brainer way to hear the engine a bit more....and save about 5 lbs.

I don't think the resonator is 5 pounds, and I don't think the car would notice if it lost 5 pounds. Not to mention you then weld on a solid hanger.

Between the 4.57's and SC'r I wouldn't want my car any louder

Anyone ever hear an S with a testpipe and the resonator removed? Sounds like crap.
