Default Reved to 9k on my AP2

mixed feelings today.

i swapped out my ecu for a my00.

revved to 9k and the sound and feeling brought me back to when i originally drove the s2k. i shifted and stayed IN vtec and the car flew.

the downside is that i can feel the lack of torque. feels like i need to stay in a lower gear to feel as responsive. it's like the car forgot that it has 2.2L.

i know most will say get a ems, but not interested in spending all that cash.

ill run it for awhile and see if i can get used to it, but the truth is that i stay in low revs much more than 9k.

for those of you who have driven both ap1 and ap2, which would you choose if you could choose: 9k or torque?

9k ftw!!!

more torque would be nice, but come on, this is honda we're talking about

winding a stock engine up to 9000rpms is N/A at its best!
and its fun too

I'd be interested in REAL dyno results, the butt dyno (mine, at least) is notoriously inaccurate.

could this be bad for the motor? i dunno cause if honda thought the motor was safe to rev to 9 they woulda enabled the F22 to do so

i dont wanna debate if it's safe. it's been tested and my honda mechanic said it should be fine. im not saying it's 100% ok, but the point is moot.

i just wanna know what you think about 9k vs torque. it feels like nothing happens until 4-5k whereas the ap2 felt responsive around 2-3k.

There's probably a little leeway but who knows what it is? Better play it safe.

Torque any day. What's so big about reving to 9K if you can rev to 8K and get the quicker result?

Some people who are so caught up on winding the car to 9K but it's for that very reason the 2.2 was created because it's just excessive to have to keep the car so high strung in order to really move.

Does the AP1 ecu really cut the torque that much? I thought the added torque in the AP2 was mostly a product of the higher displacement, not any engine management function...

The AP1 ecu wouldn't allow the car to use the engine's torque because it wasn't programmed to utilize the extra displacement.

It's like you just got a new video card for your computer, but you didn't install the drivers, so the computer doesn't know how to use it.
