Lots of people replace their cat with a testpipe, does no damage to your car, its probably actually better for it.

Are you driving around without an exhaust at all?
Everything "gone" after the cat?
If so, then you have hot exhaust gasses where you don't want them IMO.
Under your car when you're not driving.
I would not do that.

Changing the cat for a testpipe is "not very good" for the environment.
Think "Kyoto"

Does anyone spell (or punctuate) correctly around here or did the education system collapse?

Rant aside, I'm keen to find out if there are any gains (I'm guessing power loss instead) from going with straight pipes over a decent aftermarket exhaust system.

I didn't realize that you are justing driving without anything past the header! You are pretty hardcore if you like that! My Spugen dual-oval is loud enough, I can't even imagine a straight pipe.

Usually only used for turbocharged cars, like the OP is planning on doing.

if you are running with no exhaust and just a catalytic convertor you are not benefitting anything

if you took off your exhaust and cat then you are probably damaging your header, congratulations. not to mention a decent loss is power overall

oh and BTW your car doesn't sound anything like an F1 car. when comparing the sound of an F1 car, you compare it to every other car in the world that isn't an F1 car.
