Default right gear at right speed?

Probably a question been answered but can't find it in search....Me and my friend were having a discussion of what appropriate speed before you change gear; he kept telling me that i did it wrong...I usually change 1st to 2nd at 10-12mph....and pull to 6th at 40-45mph...is this too slow to be in??? what speed to you change to 6th??? thanks.

I usually do it at anything above 50 mph. I think this is actually addressed in the owners manual. Forgot what they reccomend however.

With your AP1, you have quite a range. And, as Mike said, "appropriate" needs to be clarified.

"appropriate" meaning for everyday driving and preferably gas saving (the engine rev 500rpm extra with 5th instead of 6th at 40-45mph)...

the engine rev a little too excessive in 5th at 40-45mph for my taste...but the S makes lots of noise after 3k RPM anyway.
