Add the cost of your conversion to the ultimate re-sale value of a RH drive in this country and I think you'll notice that cost wise it is prohibitive.
Very few buyers would be willing to pay anything near average Bluebook and my estimate of actual value decline would be around 33%
There are a few advantages to go along with the obvious disadvantages like parking for one. I can't think of anymore at the moment but you do get quickly acustomed to this configuration.
I drove left hand drive autos in Japan for two years with no problem.

Or move to Canada... the cut off here is 15 years old, so you see lots of R32 Skylines and such here.

I see at least one or two RHD cars every day here, and this town is only 85,000 people.

Of course I always wonder "why" - they have to wait for a yellow light just to make a left turn when it's busy... of course everyone behind them gets pissed right off when 10-15 cars are all waiting for some loser to make a turn that he'd know were actually safe were he able to actually see past the car opposite him.

Even if the THROTTLE were Drive by wire (which it is in '06 and up.) That doesn't handle the clutch or the brakes. You would need to move both master cylindars where the battery is, and the battery to the other side. I believe you need to relocate the fuse panels too.

It may require a differetn transmission housing to get the clutch slave cylindar to the other side.

Mabey you should just rent "Corvette Summer" and see how RHD in the US worked out, and how fads with cars come and go.

Why all this interest in converting to RHD? This is not the first thread, some of the older threads:

And then there is this thread about a RHD S2000 for sale in the US:

Well, believe it or not, someone actually asked me that question seriously when I was in college a few years ago.

I'm curious as to how you plan on reaching your goal of 550whp. I know that its achievable, but based upon what you have posted in this thread I think that you will have a rocky road ahead of you if you don't do a serious amount of research and have a thick wallet. BTW, do you have any idea how much power that is for a 2800lb car?

So a few import magazines have done articles pertaining to the subject of importing cars and the legality of RHD. As far as importing a car, the S2000 wouldn't be a huge problem since we already have the car here. You just have to prove to customs that every inch of the car is IDed and is scientifically proven to be safe (emissions and road use). Such cars like the Skyline and S15 have to be stripped down into the bare bones and each part IDed and studied before it can be released onto US grounds. All this hardwork can be done for you by importing companies such as the late Motorex, which I heard died.

As for RHD in America, there's that really old car thing that would make it legal. The other option is for the car to be specifically used as a show car, which is only driven from one show to the other, if not transported via truck. Not really an easy task to get a show car permit either though.

I think an issue of Import Tuners years ago interviewed the guys with the HKS R34, and I think I'm remembering info straight from that article.
