Default Right Hand Drive S2k's

Folks, What's the general consensus on right hand drive S2000's? Truthfully, I have never seen one--except on Youtube.

Are they hard to get hold of?

Is it generally too much of a hassle?

Does anyone have experience driving one? Impressions?

Thanks in advance!

yes, hard to get a hold of, and import.

More trouble than they're worth. It's just totally impractical. They're made for people that drive on the left side of the road.

Individualistic? Yes. Still...

You can probably convert yours to RHD but it'll be a lot of work...and money. New steering rack, dash unit, brake & clutch master cylinder (probably lines too for the front). Maybe even more.

I never understood why someone would want to drive a rhd vehicle in North America. Personally it just sounds dangerous given the number of left hand turns I make at intersections in a given day. I think the first time I tried to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two lane highway I would put a for sale sign in the window, it would be a totally frustrating experience. Plus I wouldnt want to shift with my left hand, just my personal preference.

I've driven two RHD cars in my life. An R32 skyline and a S15 Silvia (both were authentic japanese imports and just happened to be owned by a good friend of mine). It took a little getting used to, but the hardest part is orienting yourself to the road. I found myself crossing the center of the road on several occasions.

Are they hard to get hold of?

Not an easy task. You will probably have the best luck going through a Canadian importer

Is it generally too much of a hassle?

Depends on the vehicle...an S2000 I'd imagine is a bit harder than say a Skyline or an ITR, because there isn't much of a demand for them.

Does anyone have experience driving one? Impressions?

I owned a RHD Civic EG6 for almost three years here in the states. I drove it on a daily basis. I never had any issues while driving it where I felt that it was unsafe. You learn to adapt to being on the right side of the vehicle. Shifting with the left hand becomes natural after a few weeks. I think people make more of a big deal about it than necessary. I find that most people who have negative feelings/opinions about RHD vehicles have never owned one. However, I will say for me the novelty wore off after awhile. The one thing that really bothered me over time was the constant questions/comments about it. Just normal people at gas stations and stoplights asking about it (is it from Europe, are you a mail man, where did you get it, etc.)

I only know of a few RHD S2K's in the states and one of them was or is for sale. There is also a guy on honda-tech who recently converted one. Just search in the S2000 forum and it should be easy to find the thread...it's full of haters too as usual with h-t.

a member on here has completed his RHD conversion recently. There have been about 3 others I know of as well.
I bought a RHD clip and will be getting ready to do mine in the near future.

Reason behind it.......its just different so why not.

I live in a RHD country and drive a RHD. It's not anything special. I personally wouldn't take the time or effort to convert or look for one that has a seating position on the opposite side. I have lived in both LHD and RHD countries and I have no preference for either and can switch between them with no effort. I think the only recognition you'll receive for having a RHD in the US is from the exact crowd you don't want the attention from.

I suppose it's whatever your used to

I wouldn't be able to comfortably drive a LHD car

But I do like the way you get to shift with your right hand

My s2000 is a JDM model but luckily in Ireland we drive on the right side anyway

By right I also mean correct lol

i own a rhd s2000 and i live in an lhd country.

is it dangereous ? no it is not.
is it hard to drive? no after a week you don't know any better.

if it is financiely interesting to import an RHD car, i would say do it, but if the price is the same just go for lhd.....
